ANDREA VONA

Andrea Vona holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science from Cal State Fullerton and a professional certificate in Sustainability from UCLA Extension. She currently serves as the Section Head for Sustainability in the Planning and Development Agency for Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, where she oversees a broad range of sustainability initiatives.

From 2018-2022, Andrea served as the Section Head for the Grants and Legislative Policy Section, where she managed a portfolio of over seventy active grants valued at more than $140M. During her tenure, she established strategies and executed all grant applications to fund priority capital projects and support programmatic needs, securing the largest competitive funding awards received by the Department for the development of new parks in areas of very high park need.

Andrea also has an extensive background in land conservation and management. From 2008-2018, she served as the Executive Director of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, where she led an interdisciplinary team focused on land preservation, ecological restoration, environmental education, and the management and maintenance of 1600 acres of public land serving a region of southern Los Angeles County with 40 miles of multi-use trails, operation of two nature centers, and a native plant nursery.

Andrea is trained in Executive Leadership and has completed the Land Trust Alliance Executive Director Leadership Program, the Annenberg Alchemy Program and the Executive Director Leadership Institute from the Executive Service Corps.
