Daniel Newberry
Urban Forestry Commissioner, City of Portland
Daniel is a volunteer Urban Forestry Commissioner with the City of Portland, Oregon, where he also serves as the Policy Committee Chair. In his day job, he is the Executive Director of the Johnson Creek Watershed Council, a nonprofit with a mission of science-based restoration and community engagement.
He has also served as Executive Director for both the Siskiyou Field Institute and the Applegate River Watershed Council. Before going into the nonprofit field, Daniel held positions as a hydrologist for both the US Forest Service and the Hoopa Valley Tribe. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and a Masters in Forest Science.
