HARI Pulapaka

I am a professional chef and an academic mathematician who has been actively advocating for reducing food waste and making thoughtfully sustainable choices for a healthier planet. I was recognized as a GRIST 50 fixer for my innovative and active work in food waste reduction and have helped develop food waste reduction related teaching materials for the James Beard Foundation as part of a full-use kitchen curriculum. As a strategic advisor to Postelsia, a division of "Where Food Comes From", I advise on sustainable seafood initiatives. My recent book titled "Dreaming in Spice: A Sinfully Vegetarian Odyssey" illustrates the deliciousness of vegetarian food. My academic research explores mathematical models for traceability in food systems. I am passionate about helping humans realize the full potential of making dietary choices which lead with flavor and end with a healthier planet, one bite at a time, and one buy at a time.
