I spent many years applying design thinking to big system challenges, most recently focused on food. But much of my work felt far removed from the immediacy and tangibility of the challenges we’re facing when it comes to diet and climate so I started an MS in Integrative Nutrition and Western Herbalism in 2021 to better understand how nutrients and phytochemicals connect the plant and human worlds, and how by fostering a better connection between the two we might help improve the health of both. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with xenohormesis and how that intimate communication between plants and humans (which has been disrupted by colonialism and industrialization) can be consciously nurtured by humans thinking and acting with different intentions when it comes to the food we eat.
