Jenn has been the City Forester for Portland, Oregon since 2012 and a dedicated public servant and leader in forest and natural resources management for over 25 years, including for New York State, New York City, and the State of Oregon. As Portland City Forester she led the implementation of Portland’s first comprehensive tree regulations; expanded the size and visibility of the City’s urban forestry program; improved the diversity and professionalism of the program team and spearheads protecting and expanding the urban forest and improving forest services to low-income neighborhoods and communities of color.
Originally from the Shawangunk Mountains of New York, Jenn has lived in Oregon for 15 years and spends her free time with family and friends among trees, as a volunteer land restoration leader, reading, practicing yoga, skiing, kayaking and generally playing outside. She earned a master of science degree in Forestry from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry; a master’s degree of Public Administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School; a bachelor of science in Foreign Service, International Law, Diplomacy and Organization and certificate in German Area Studies from Georgetown University and is a certified arborist, municipal arborist and tree risk assessor.
