Pie Ranch

Leonard is the Director of Farmer & Rancher Opportunities at Pie Ranch, with oversight of the Cascade Farm Regenerator Program, a 418 acre incubator farm, in Pescadero California.

Leonard was: the farm manager of the Santa Rosa Junior College Shone Farm, a 365 acre self-sustaining farm with wine grapes, a winery, a livestock operation, a forest, and organic fruit & vegetable crops; Co-owner with his wife of BioFarm a certified organic vegetable farm in Lake County; owner/operator of Diggs Organic Farms, in Santa Rosa, CA.

He was also the farm manager of The Farmery, Inc., in Santa Rosa, CA., a 45 acres of organic vegetable farm, and farm manager of  ‘The Farm’, a 3 acre demonstration farm at the California State Fair, which featured major California agricultural crops, innovative technologies, unique cultural practices, and new plant varieties.

Leonard has served on numerous boards and committees, and instructed agricultural classes for the Santa Rosa Junior College.

Leonard also receive the following  recognition:

  • A fellowship from the California Agricultural Leadership Program, Class 24

  • The Pedro ILIC Agriculture Award for Outstanding Farmer

  • The Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year Award from the Sonoma County Harvest Fair

  • The Legacy Farmer of the Year Award from the Farmers Guild

  • Membership in the Castanea Fellowship Program, 2019 fellow

  • The EcoFarm Sustie Award

  • Member of the Grist 50 Fixers, 2023 cohort
