Mariana Valdivia is the Chief Sustainability Officer for City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. She is responsible for implementing the City's sustainability plan and coordinating new local environmental protocols. She has over 20 years of public service, including managing the second-largest transit agency in Los Angeles County as the City's Chief of Transit. Her key accomplishments include securing over $40 million in state grants to purchase electric buses, implementing the nation's most extensive dockless scooter program, and overseeing the pandemic emergency response LA Al Fresco outdoor dining program. She has extensive experience in land use entitlements and environmental review for major projects and established urban design guidelines and regulatory compliance on behalf of the Los Angeles World Airports. City service remains an adventure; she enjoys learning new things and making friends along the way!
