Esri

Sunny Fleming is Esri’s industry lead for the domains of environment and conservation. Born and raised in Tennessee, her passion for nature started young, with a wandering childhood in the hills of Nashville's Central Basin. It was during her time at Austin Peay State University where Dr. Dwayne Estes introduced her to the forgotten grasslands of her home state. Later, she was hired as a biologist for Tennessee's Natural Heritage Program, responsible for the state's federally listed plant species, many of which are vestiges of the southeast's grassland communities.

Throughout her career, she has applied spatial technology to environmental policy, conservation, and natural resources, from monitoring species in the field to helping state parks manage assets and assess their economic impacts. She continues to pursue her passion for the environment by helping industry leaders leverage GIS technology to achieve a collective goal of a more sustainable and resilient future.
